"After attending Firefly, missing both of Grouplove's performances, and deeply regretting it, I am extremely overjoyed to know I’ll finally be seeing them on November 11th. I remember being a freshman in high school and hearing “Tongue Tied” frequently on the radio. I fell in love with that song almost immediately. From there, I went on to fall in love with the majority of the songs in Never Trust A Happy Song. I have been a fan since then and have enjoyed their last two albums, including the newest one ― Big Mess. I can’t wait to see them perform my favorite songs from their new album but my old favorites as well.
I didn’t know too much before Dilly Dally and MUNA before I knew that they were opening for Grouplove and I decided to look into their music. Needless to say, they have some quality work and I’m excited to witness their presence and talent at the show. After all, what’s better than expanding your music knowledge? Grouplove
Grouplove’s road to fame was truly initiated by the band’s lead vocalists ― Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi when they met after one of Zucconi’s shows in Manhattan. Hooper invited Zucconi to an artist residency in Crete and that’s where they met the rest of the band (Andrew Wessen, Ryan Rabin, and Sean Gadd). They officially became a band a year later and met up in Los Angeles in the recording studio. They went on to tour with Florence and The Machine and The Joy Formidable before releasing their debut album, Never Trust a Happy Song. From that album they released 4 singles, including their biggest hit, “Tongue Tied” which really brought them into the public eye. Their music has since then been used in commercials, a FIFA game, and movies such as The Fault in Our Stars, Frankenweenie, and Paper Towns.
MUNA
The members of MUNA, Katie Gavin, Naomi McPherson, and Josette Masking, have written, recorded, and self-produced all of their releases to date from bedrooms in LA and NYC. They describe their music as as a musical blend of “the brooding sensuality of R&B, rhythms of funk and pop rock, and audacity of synthpop with raw, unbridled lyricism.”
Dilly Dally
Dilly Dally was formed by Katie Monks and Liz Ball. The band is originally from Toronto, Canada and performs mostly alternative rock and grunge music. Katie and Liz met when they were 14 years old and they began writing music together after graduating high school. After years of rotating band members, they completed their roster with Jimmy Tony and Benjamin Reinhartz. Their debut album, Sore has been described as “strong work," and has been compared to Speedy Ortiz and Parquet Courts for their "rich [music] with their own weird humor."
